The Census Research Data Centers have become the Federal Statistical Research Data Centers. This name change acknowledges the growing contribution of other Federal agencies making their data available for statistical research in the RDCs.

Media Exposure and Health Insurance Take Up
Investigators: Sarah Gollust and Pinar Karaca-Mandic, Division of Health Policy and Management
This study examines geographic variation in media messaging about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its relationship to health insurance enrollment in 2014. They have constructed a novel data set available to them through the Wesleyan Media Project of all broadcast news stories about the ACA, all political advertisements about the ACA, and all insurance-related advertisements aired in the U.S. between October 2013 and April 2014. They are linking this with individual-level data to assess whether county-level media volumes are associated with changes in insurance status. Golllust and Karaca-Mandic are working with graduate student Andrew Wilcock.
